On Sunday 28th January the band competed at the Brass at the Guild Contest held at the Preston Guild Hall. We chose to play the demanding 'Odyssey' by Kevin Norbury, which is the set work for the North West Area Championships contest held in Blackpool in a few weeks time.

The band were placed fourth by adjudicator Paul Andrews, out of a strong field of seven championship section bands. The best euphonium prize was awarded to our solo euphonium player Giacomo Marcocig. Giacomo is from Italy and is currently studying his masters degree at the RNCM in Manchester.  It was Giacomo's very first contest with the band, having only moved to the UK in September.
